What's the currently focus of RF IC receiver ? (Read 315 times)

xutailong_2005 New Member Offline Posts: 7	What's the currently focus of RF IC receiver ? Jan 03^rd, 2008, 5:05pm Hi, everyone! I will be a phd student, I want to study work in RFIC feild. Now I want to know the currently focus of RF IC . If I design a receiver for WLAN, which architecture I should adopt?

Go and buy one, might be cheaper ... Or start digging deeper into it, think about new standards or new concepts, not existing ones ...

Hi,
Welcome to the guild then xutailong_2005, but this means that you don't think mm-wave design it's an interesting topic?,or maybe you consider that RFIC it's limited just in the "low" gigahertz band?Consider that spectrum it's scarce so it's natural that new applications appear at higher frequency, and this was traditionally the realm of compound semiconductors(III-V semiconductors) so I think it's a hot topic for reasearch.

find a thesis advisor that you like and get along with well - then find out what they are interested in doing.

Reply #8 - Jan 10^th, 2008, 1:19pm There are still lots techniques problems need to be solved, even you can figure out the solution, it still need to be low cost, low power, high performance, robust, etc, You can focus on any of them. Any of them can be a research topic for your whole life.
