calibre extraction - predefined components
May 19th, 2010, 7:59am

Hi all,

just wondering, if I model a certain interconnection myself, and make it into a component (and place it in a layout), will Calibre include the component in the parasitic extraction? Also, how does Calibre deal with coupling to different parts of that component? Is it simply ignored?

thanks,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Calibre could regard a black box cell as "hcells", and would not do further extraction in this cell. This is always used in RF PDK cells which is already extract the parasitic and doesn't need to be extract the parasitic again by PEX. If you don't claim it as a hcell, then it would be extracted as normal net.

HCells: PEX -> Input -> H-Cells

Thanks,
