large signal bandwidth of amp
Jul 25th, 2011, 5:52pm

i read the datasheet of TI's 'ths3121' and find this term which is somewhat smaller than the small signal bandwidth. what's the large signal bandwidth and what's the relationship between large signal bandwidth, small signal bandwidth and slew rate?
any reference about the analysis of 'large signal bandwidth'?

thanks!

The large signal bandwidth (caused by the slew rate) is:

BW=SR/(2*Pi*umax)   with SR=slew rate and umax=amplitude of the maximum possible sinusoidal output voltage.

Note that BW as well as SR are defined for an opamp with large negative feedback (some times 100% if stability allows).
There is no direct relation to the small signal bandwidth.

It can be described on the basis of front end's ability to get a signal from because the distortion performance of an amplifier does not remain constant..
