jitter comparisons
Aug 03rd, 2010, 5:11pm

Hi All,

I have a question about jitter comparison. For example, I got  RMS edge to edge jitter number 20fs with clock period 1ns in one system while the same jitter 20fs with clock period 5ns in another system. I am thinking the jitter performance in the second system is better because it affects 5ns clock period less.

Is that correct? Do people compare jitter normalized to the clock period?

Thanks.

yes, you are right. 20fs jitter will effect a 1ns system more than a 5ns system. your eye diagram in the former case will more closed.
